Senior Walk at Hughes Elementary

There is a profound sense of "full circle" magic when the seniors of Proctor High School walk back through the front doors of Hughes Elementary. These students return not just as visitors, but as living proof of what the future holds for the younger generation of the Utica City School District. For a third-grader sitting in the same wooden desks the seniors once occupied, seeing a "big kid" who grew up in their neighborhood now heading off to further their education or launch a career is a powerful spark of inspiration.

The visit serves as a bridge between the past and the future, as the seniors high-five their former teachers and walk the familiar hallways. Each student shows the elementary kids  that the journey from Hughes to the graduation stage is a path they are fully capable of walking themselves. It’s a final farewell to their roots and we are so proud of how far these seniors have come since their elementary days. #UticaUnited
